I was told if I left there would be no guarantee that I would get on the next boat. I asked if I would be put back in my spot in the standby line as I was in the front of the line. She said no as I did not have a reservation for that boat. I asked if I would be put in the reservation line if I returned. She told me all I could do was order takeout somewhere and go and get it. I told her about my concerns of food for the children. I spoke to the manger regarding the situation. The 3 girls and I went into the terminal only to find out that the cafeteria has been closed many years. We got to the front of the line and the ferry was full. Why are there exceptions for some and not others. They did not have any small children with them. They were 10 mins before the crossing and were let on without issue in the empty reservation line. My inlaws were on the boat two days prior leaving Caribou. So I went in the standby line and watched over 30 cars load, who did not have reservations. Had they given me a warning this time, and let me on I would have never been late again. I have made many trips on the ferry and never had my reservation removed. When I approached the gate I was notified that I was late, that my reservation is now voided and I had to go in the standby line. I had reservations on October 9th for the 12:00 pm boat leaving Wood Islands. It’s a daunting task for a parent travelling solo with a 6, 3 & 2 year old. My husband is a shift worker and was unable to make the trip with us. Took my 3 girls to PEI this weekend to their grandparents for Thanksgiving.
